PDO threads induce natural collagen production which in turn, creates tightening of the skin, improves sagging tissue and defines facial contours.
What Is It
Thread are made from polydioxanone (PDO) the same material that is found in a suture used to close a wound. Over time, these threads dissolve, inducing collagen and elastin production, strengthening the surrounding tissue, resulting in a tightening effect.
How it Works
After a topical numbing cream is applied, the threads are placed just under the skin via a needle, with the needle being removed and the thread left in its place.
Result
Results are normally seen at 6 weeks post treatment and continues to improve over 2 to 6 months. For optimal results, it is recommended to repeat the treatment 12 weeks after your first visit, with results lasting 12 months.

I have booked for PDO mono threads. What should I do to prepare for my treatment?
It is recommended to avoid any strenuous activity and heavy alcohol intake 24 hours prior to your appointment as these can increase the risk of inflammation and bruising. All injectable treatments carry the risk of bruising and swelling however to reduce this risk, please avoid the following; taking any anti-inflammatories, fish oil, aspirin, herbal remedies, ginseng, St John’s Wort etc.
In addition, to help reduce the risk of bruising, you can take arnica tablets (natural supplement) which can be purchased from the chemist, 2 weeks prior to your appointment. As always, please discuss with your GP and your pharmacist regarding any medications. Arnica topical cream is also great for the reduction of swelling & bruising post treatment.
What can I expect post PDO thread treatment?
Some clients may experience bruising and discomfort at the treatment area. You will have prescription topical anaesthesia applied to the treatment area prior to your treatment so a ‘tight feeling’ may be felt immediately post treatment due to this & mild swelling. These immediate side effects should subside 1-5 days post treatment.
As you may have multiple needle incisions sites, it is important to keep the area clean to reduce the risk of infection. You will need to avoid any strenuous activity for 72 hours post treatment & avoid any laser at the treatment site for 3 months.
